W. L. Gore & Associates Inc. (Gore) announced the first U.S. implant of the Gore Tag Conformable Thoracic Stent Graft with Active Control System. The successful procedure was performed by William Jordan, M.D., chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery and Bradley Leshnower, M.D., cardiothoracic surgeon, at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. This first case follows the recent U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for this new device.

Neovasc Inc. announced that its Tiara transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR) device and its Neovasc Reducer device for the treatment of refractory angina were highlighted in presentations at the CSI Frankfurt 2019 conference, June 26-29, in Frankfurt, Germany.

Jonathon A. Leipsic, M.D., FSCCT, is the recipient of the 2019 DeHaan Award for Innovation in Cardiology, announced by the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT). Leipsic will present the second Dehaan Award Lecture at the SCCT 14th Annual Scientific Meeting, July 11-14 in Baltimore. The award, presented by the Jon DeHaan Foundation, includes a $200,000 grant.
