February 2, 2024 — The American College of Cardiology’s Cardiac Oncology Conference, “Advancing the Cardiovascular Care of the Oncology Patient,” will be held in person at the Heart House in Washington, D.C., from Feb. 9-11, 2024, with program planners preparing a robust program. The event is offered as an interdisciplinary and interspecialty course to provide clinicians and researchers with the tools needed to improve the cardiovascular (CV) health of cancer patients in everyday practice.

The opening Plenary session, “Perspective from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA): How to Keep Pace with New Drug Development and Drug Safety” will be presented by Laleh Amiri Kordestani, MD. After two full days covering a wide range of issues and experts, the final day will include a joint session with the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

The goal of the multi-day course, notes planners, is to equip the cardio-oncology community with practical scientific knowledge fostering the progression of patient-centered, evidence-based, collaborative cardiovascular and cancer care for patients living with and beyond cancer. According to ACC, the event addresses the educational needs for cardiologists, oncologists, internists, pharmacists, nurses, trainees, and all members of the interprofessional care team who advance the clinical care of, and conduct clinical research that is relevant to, the growing population of cancer patients and survivors at risk for, or suffer from, cardiovascular disease.

Course Chairs are: Ana Barac, MD, PhD, FACC, Inova Health System; and Bonnie Ky, MD, MSCE, FACC, University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine. Course Vice Chair is Richard Cheng, MD, MSc, FACC, University of Washington.
