November 10, 2023 — Cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons and interventionalists from the Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai will unveil research and clinical insights during the American Heart Association (AHA) Scientific Sessions Nov. 11-13 in Philadelphia.
Joanna Chikwe, MD, chair of the Department of Cardiac Surgery and the Irina and George Schaeffer Distinguished Chair in Cardiac Surgery, will lead sessions on valvular heart disease including the Paul Dudley White International Lecture. Chikwe serves as vice chair of the AHA Scientific Sessions.
Sumeet Chugh, MD, director of the Center for Cardiac Arrest Prevention and the Pauline and Harold Price Chair in Cardiac Electrophysiology Research, will moderate an AHA featured science session and share new research on prevention of sudden cardiac death.
Christine Albert, MD, MPH, chair of the Department of Cardiology and the Lee and Harold Kapelovitz Distinguished Chair in Cardiology, will moderate a late-breaking session on shocking decisions in atrial fibrillation (AFib) care. Albert has led pivotal studies that have deepened the medical community’s understanding of the complex disease.
