July 13, 2022 — Ahead of its 2022 Annual Scientific Meeting, July 15 – 17 in Las Vegas, the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) has announced that seven finalists have been selected for the Best Abstract Award in cardiovascular computed tomography. Additionally, six radiology and cardiology trainees have been selected as finalists for the 16th Annual Canon Young Investigator Awards (YIA) in cardiovascular computed tomography.
Best Abstract Award
Seven finalists have been selected for the Best Abstract Award in cardiovascular computed tomography. Each finalist will present their research at SCCT2022. The SCCT Best Abstract Award, supported by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation of Southern California. The CVRF of So. Ca. - Ma Family helps strengthen the professional and clinical development of top radiology residents and cardiology fellows.
“SCCT greatly values and recognizes the importance of promoting the research, writing and oral presentation skills of its abstract authors,” says chair of the Best Abstract judging panel, Milind Desai, MD, MBA, FSCCT. Desai added, “SCCT is committed to fostering an environment for the development of clinical or technical research to impact the future of the field.”

SCCT2022 planners noted there are two opportunities to watch these oral presentations on Friday, July 15 from 9:40 – 10:25 am and Saturday, July 16 from 9:40 – 10:25 am (PST). A panel of judges selects a winner, who will be recognized at the closing ceremony on Sunday, July 17 with a $5,000 award. Two runners-up will receive monetary prizes. The winning finalist will be invited to submit his or her original research manuscript for priority peer-reviewed publication in the Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (JCCT).
Canon Young Investigators Awards (YIA)
Six radiology and cardiology trainees have been selected as finalists for the 16th Annual Canon Young Investigator Awards (YIA) in cardiovascular computed tomography. Each finalist will present their research at SCCT2022. The YIA program supports the professional and clinical development of top radiology residents and cardiology fellows within five years of completing a training program.

The program is intended to promote the research and writing skills of the trainees, as well as their oral presentation skills, and may provide the catalyst for some trainees to become future thought leaders in the field of cardiovascular imaging. SCCT and Canon Medical Systems USA, Inc. recognize the importance of supporting the educational development of our radiology residents and cardiology fellows.
The oral presentations will be presented on Friday, July 15 from 1:30 – 3 pm (PST). The judges will select a first-place winner and a runner-up. Each finalist will receive a cash prize. Winners will be announced at the closing ceremony on Sunday, July 17. Each award winner’s manuscript will be eligible for priority peer-reviewed publication in the Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (JCCT).
