June 4, 2014 — The Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE) Board of Directors has approved a new set of Performance Metrics for Cath PCI Accreditation. These metrics have been published and are now available for download on the ACE website or are available in hard copy.
ACE updated its Cath/PCI performance metrics to align with the NCDR CathPCI Registry, NCDR ACTION Registry and the Hospital Compare data. Thirty-six performance metrics in PCI, Diagnostic Cath, STEMI/NSTEMI and Medicare Hospital Compare Outcomes have been updated.
"It is critically important to align performance metrics with cath lab documentation," said Gregory J. Dehmer, M.D., FACC, FACP, FAHA, FSCAI and ACE board chair. "Incorporating these performance metrics into the ACE accreditation program maintains best practices for interventional cardiology."
SCAI 2013-14 President Ted A. Bass, M.D., FSCAI, is a long-time advocate of efforts, such as ACE's, that promote adherence to quality standards in cardiac cath labs. "I am excited by the rapidly growing number of cath labs that are applying for ACE review and accreditation," said Bass. "Cath lab accreditation is becoming a must-have for interventional cardiology labs."
