November 21, 2013 — AliveCor Inc. launched a mobile heart health service, offering expert reviews of electrocardiograms (ECGs) recorded through their smartphone application. Patients can share these expert reviews and their ECGs with their physicians. Physicians in turn can manage their patients through AliveCor’s website using their PC or tablet.

Expert reviews of ECGs are available through AliveInsights within the AliveECG app. Patients’ and physicians’ smartphones can receive technical reviews performed by a U.S.-based cardiac technicia. They can also receive more in-depth clinical reviews from a U.S. Board-Certified cardiologist for a minimal fee. This around-the-clock resource offers peace of mind to patients.

“AliveCor’s new integrated mobile health service offers unprecedented benefits to both patients and physicians,” said Ronald Karlsberg, M.D., Cedars Sinai Heart Institute, Cardiovascular Medical Group of Southern California and clinical professor of medicine, David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles. “This eHealth service makes it easier for physicians to manage the heart condition of their patients wherever they and their patients are. Just as the introduction of thermometers and blood pressure cuffs in the past helped patients to monitor their health, now the ability to record one’s own electrocardiogram — and get an interpretation almost instantly — empowers the 21st century patient to take charge of their heart health.”

The AliveCor Heart Monitor is the only U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-cleared mobile ECG recorder that supports both iPhone and Android compatible smartphones. It records, displays, annotates, stores and transfers single-channel electrocardiogram (ECG) rhythms wirelessly using the free AliveECG app. With secure storage in the Cloud, patients can access their data confidentially anytime, anywhere and can grant access to their physician. The Heart Monitor is available for purchase in the United States by medical professionals and patients with prescriptions.
