March 1, 2012 — Philips announced the launch of HeartStart XL+, a crash cart defibrillator/monitor for use in hospitals and other health care facilities that, in AED mode, can defibrillate any patient with no special pads required, which can save valuable time when responding to a cardiac emergency.
The Philips HeartStart XL+ is designed to be reliable and easy to use, enabling immediate action during cardiac emergencies. It has power status and “ready for use” indicators on the front panel, cabling that is consistent with other Philips defibrillators/monitors to make hand-offs easier, and a button that switches the device between adult and infant/child AED mode.
Utilizing Smart biphasic therapy for defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion, the HeartStart XL+ delivers one of the fastest shocks (three seconds) to standard adult dose (150 Joules) in manual and AED mode, enabling fast delivery of therapy and allowing clinicians to quickly resume CPR. Other features offered include non-invasive blood pressure, pulse oximetry, synchronized cardioversion, pacing and trending.
