March 18, 2009 - GE said yesterday it was awarded two 10-year contracts by the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP) to provide products for comprehensive patient monitoring solutions, including acute patient monitoring, networking, telemetry systems, vital signs monitoring.
Combined, these two contracts are valued at a maximum of $63 million annually.
DSCP customers can now select from GE Healthcare’s integrated suite of patient monitoring devices, communications networks and IT systems designed to transform patient monitoring data into clinical intelligence enabling clinicians to make critical healthcare decisions faster and more efficiently, the company said. The contracts also enable federal agencies to select complementary GE Healthcare products including: diagnostic cardiology devices and MUSE cardiology information archival systems; catheterization laboratory monitoring; Datex-Ohmeda anesthesia delivery, infant incubators and warmers; and fetal monitoring, perinatal information systems, and blood pressure cuffs.
The contracts can be utilized for purchasing GE medical equipment by the army, navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Veterans Administration, and U.S. federal government agencies worldwide. Each of these contracts has been under negotiations since April 2007, and are the first two patient monitoring vendor contracts to be awarded by the DSCP.
