April 14, 2008 - ESTECH will showcase its new CG LiV Kits, designed to enable mitral and aortic valve procedures, at the American Association for Thoracic Surgery 88th Annual Meeting in San Diego.
ESTECH in conjunction with New York University Medical Center surgeons, have developed the specialized LiV Kits. The ESTECH CG LiV Kits were developed to allow surgeons to safely and easily implement the advanced heart valve techniques developed at NYU.
The CG LiV Kits include the new ClearView MV Atrial Depressor, Soft Tissue Atraumatic Retractor and EasyFlow Aortic, RAP Femoral Venous and FlexFlow Venous cannula and COBRA Cooled Surgical Probe that reportedly allows surgeons to gain better exposure of the valves, and is designed to enhance the ability for surgeons to do a repair or replacement with the smallest of incisions.
Eugene Grossi, M.D., Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at New York University Medical Center, recently published paper in The Annals of Thoracic Surgery that included five year follow-up on 731 patients. "Percutaneous aortic valve replacement (PAVR) trials are ongoing in patients with elevated EuroSCOREs, which are patients believed to have high mortality rates and poor long-term prognoses with valve replacement surgery. However, our results show that the LiV procedure offers surgical results available today in this same target population with a 45 percent reduction in mortality compared with conventional surgery, and excellent five year survival in high risk patients," said Dr. Grossi.
