ASE Highlights Latest Cardiac Ultrasound Technology

The latest advances in cardiovascular echocardiography will be presented at the 2015 American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) annual meeting June 12-16 in Boston. Several companies are making big announcements about new software and hardware.

In addition, several new studies will be presented. One of the most intriguing is a study of how ultrasound with echo contrast agents can be used to help treat STEMI heart attack patients by helping break up the clot prior to and after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Researchers will also present data showing how fused fluoroscopic/echocardiographic imaging provides improved guidance of interventional procedures in pediatric patients with congenital heart disease.

One of the biggest trends in echo is the rise of interventional echo as a subspecialty, which will be a major topic in ASE sessions. Watch a video of ASE 2015 Program Chair Rebecca Hahn, M.D., FASE, explaining the role of echo guidance in transcatheter structural heart procedures.

More than 50 companies and organizations will display their latest products and services on the ASE expo floor. See the products being highlighted.
