Non-contrast enhanced MR angiography (MRA) techniques have attracted interest in the medical community for diagnosing renal artery stenosis, as it eliminates the need for contrast agents used with computed tomography angiography (CTA).

At Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon, India, five EchoBox devices were connected to five GE Vivid ultrasound systems, streaming live echo images over the Web to experienced sonographers located in the United States. The sonographers were members of the American Society of Echocardiography, and were able to view the images in real-time as they were being scanned. This novel approach enabled remote imaging training for eight Indian physicians during live patient examinations.

Developed by HeartFlow Inc., computed tomography-fractional flow reserve (CT-FFR) is a non-invasive imaging technology specifically designed to offer insight on both the extent of the blockage, as well as whether it is impacting blood flow to the heart. UH Case Medical Center’s Daniel Simon, M.D., will be first to use the CT-FFR test in the United States.
