A study including more than 20,000 adults in China found combined use of the hypertension medication enalapril and folic acid significantly reduced the risk of first stroke. All of the patients included in the trial had high blood pressure but no history of stroke or heart attack. The study appeared in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) in coordination with its presentation at the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Annual Scientific Session.
