VOYAGER NC Coronary Dilatation Catheter Features a Specialized Distal Tip

VOYAGER NC is Abbott's next-generation balloon dilatation catheter for the treatment of coronary artery disease. Specifically, VOYAGER NC was designed to restore blood flow in both predilatation and post-dilatation procedure and reportedly enables physicians to navigate tortuous anatomy and treat complex lesions before a stent is delivered.

Proprietary technological advancements incorporated into VOYAGER NC include: a specialized distal tip with a smooth, rounded shape designed to deflect off stent struts and enhance delivery of the balloon through stents; flexible tungsten markers enhance the flexibility of the catheter (or VNC); and a bi-layer balloon material designed to make the balloon thin and flexible, while enabling controlled balloon growth.

The balloon catheter was launched in the United States in March 2009.
