May 4, 2009 –UltraSPECT said April 30 it intends to offer the Xpress3.Cardiac SPECT WBR-based SPECT image reconstruction package for sale in the U.S., which the company said enables short acquisition times with good resolution.
The Xpress3.Cardiac reportedly enables short scan times without compromising image quality and diagnostic confidence. The company said the scan times are three minutes for stress and less than five minutes for rest. The Xpress3.Cardiac was FDA cleared in May of 2008 and was showcased at the ASNC 2008 Annual Meeting last September in Boston. The product has since been in routine clinical use at a limited number of sites in the U.S. and Europe, including St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital in New York City, Mayo Clinic, Duke University Medical Center, Baptist Hospital of Miami, and Atlanta Heart Specialists.
The Xpress3.Cardiac is fully automatic, with a single processing protocol for all patients. The hardware platform is based on a quad-core CPU, which can be connected to the gamma camera and workstation network in a matter of hours. The company said this enables quarter-time image acquisition with reconstructions that are the same or better than using standard imaging times. UltraSPECT said there is no extra work required of the technologist, as the image reconstruction process is completely transparent to the department's clinical workflow.
The Xpress3.Cardiac, along with UltraSPECT’s Xpress.Cardiac and Xpress/Xact.Bone products, are exclusively distributed in the U.S. by Cardinal Health.
