February 17, 2014 — At HIMSS 2014, Penrad released software that allows the creation of 3-D images of the carotid artery lumen from slides created by conventional 2-D ultrasound.
Visualize:Vascular renders 3-D, focusing on the true lumen in arteries imaged with vascular ultrasound. Its algorithm uses b-mode to generate 3-D, finding the maximum and minimum diameters to calculate luminal reduction for use with the NASCET criteria. Visualize:Vascular is an advanced diagnostic test for digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) ultrasound. It correlates well with MRA (>99 percent) and is particularly helpful in turbulent flow, shadowing or other difficult situations. It is provided as a post-processing service. Visualize:Vascular has been shown to increase diagnostic accuracy, pinpoint concerns and engage a new source of revenue for the practice.
