Lightweight Monitor for Improved Atrial Fibrillation

The AfibAlert Atrial Fibrillation Monitor is a healthcare provider-prescribed ambulatory cardiac monitor for improved atrial fibrillation management. The pocket-sized monitor is a tool for the more than two million Americans who suffer from atrial fibrillation.
The monitor uses a proprietary computer algorithm to monitor for the presence of atrial fibrillation. To operate, patients hold the small monitor with their hands, placing their thumbs on the raised pads. Each ECG test takes 45 seconds to complete and record. Testing also can be done using wristbands. When the testing is complete, a red or green icon illuminates to indicate what action the user should take.
The monitor stores the ECG data using a Cascading Memory system. As each new recording is taken, the oldest recording is discarded and the five most recent are saved. Patients are able to transmit the latest recordings via the telephone or Internet so their healthcare provider can make an informed decision about their treatment.
