Fujifilm, TeraMedica Ink Partnership on Vendor Neutral Archive

Synapse VNA provides a single solution for healthcare providers

March 5, 2013 — Fujifilm Medical Systems U.S.A. Inc. launched the Synapse Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) into its informatics portfolio. The technology will enable customers to manage all types of data generated within their healthcare institution. Instead of the data being standards or non-standards based, Synapse VNA technology will catalog and maintain the data in a patient centric model allowing a single access point for EMRs and other systems.

Fujifilm partnered with VNA provider TeraMedica Inc. Teramedica will provide its VNA technology and design expertise to Fujifilm to optimize and integrate the clinical repository solution with their medical and imaging information management system.

“We are very excited about working with Fujifilm on this objective. Although they are a global market leader in diagnostic imaging and healthcare informatics, we share a common entrepreneurial and innovation drive,” said Jim Prekop, TeraMedica president and CEO. “By leveraging our respective technology platforms and strengths, we have the opportunity to significantly improve both the efficiency and simplicity of patient-centered clinical image workflows across the entire healthcare enterprise.”

“TeraMedica has achieved technological excellence in the area of vendor neutral information management and distribution,” said Jim Morgan, Fujifilm vice president of medical informatics.  "This partnership leverages our combined technologies to create a compelling solution with benefits that the market will quickly realize. Synapse VNA has been designed to meet the clinical workflow needs of multiple departments while continuing our history of allowing I.T. departments to utilize the latest technology available.”

TeraMedica Evercore technology integrates and manages patient-centric clinical content in the clinical and research settings across wide geographies, including standard DICOM objects. Evercore also possesses the ability to natively manage and distribute beyond DICOM using global standards such as MPG, JPG, PDF and many other critical clinical content such as treatment plans for cancer care or vital reports in non-standard formats.
