This is a human cadaver heart being examined by a high school student as part of a science education program offered by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF) at its annual Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) interventional cardiology meeting. Each year, TCT has the Hands on Hearts exhibit, where cardiologists can look at specimens showing various cardiac disease states or implanted devices.
A group of high school students who submitted essays and were accepted into the Advanced Medical Academy: Cardiology, through the Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego. They spent the day at the TCT 2018 when it was held in San Diego. The visit included a chance to handle real human hearts in the Hands on Hearts exhibit.
