December 17, 2015 — GE Healthcare showed its latest software solutions for data analytics and dose monitoring at the 2015 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting, Nov. 29-Dec. 3 in Chicago.

Big data is everywhere and in healthcare, it is a reference to the vast amount of structured and unstructured data being created. But just capturing that data is no longer good enough. The key to extracting value from big data is to identify and analyze relevant and actionable information points that drive decision making. GE introduced Asset Performance Management (APM) software to help with this task.

Maximizing the potential of data and analytics in healthcare is key to reducing waste, increasing financial viability for providers and offering a better patient experience through strategic analysis and process improvement. Unlocking these new insights with applications at all levels of the healthcare operation can impact levers such as reducing unplanned downtime, increasing throughput, attaining higher asset utilization, better asset lifecycle management and increasing clinical effectiveness.

Beyond improving profits and cutting down on wasted overhead, the use of data and analytics in healthcare will help organizations focus on population health, curing disease, improving quality of life and avoiding preventable deaths. Models of treatment delivery are rapidly changing, and many of the decisions behind those changes are being driven by data.

GE Healthcare Global Services’ Asset Performance Management solutions help customers connect their data to actionable insights that can enhance asset performance and utilization, driving clinical, financial and operational outcomes for sustainable success. The software allows users to unlock new insights from historical data and more recent performance indicators to adapt delivery model, drive clinical, financial and operational outcomes.

On the dose monitoring side, GE launched DoseWatch Explore, a Web-based, cloud-deployed, introductory dose management software to track, analyze and report practice-level data for GE computed tomography (CT) systems. DoseWatch Explore provides visibility to practice level dose data, an affordable program with no IT integration and an automated tool for dose data and analytics.

The software ties in to the company’s Dose Excellence Program of consulting and educational services to help customers accelerate improvement, from measuring and tracking radiation dose to managing it. Our experts will help them create a dose team and customize a multi-step plan aimed at reducing variation, managing risk, streamlining reporting and enabling quality imaging at the lowest dose possible.

GE Healthcare’s technology-based MR Performance Excellence solutions are aimed at assisting customers in improving productivity through two key offerings: first, MR Performance Assessment, which will be designed to focus on data acquisition and analysis of operational workflow and second, MR Performance Excellence Services, which will be designed to help enable customized advisory based on workflow data assessment, interpretation and analysis.
