March 26, 2015 — The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) 2015 Scientific Sessions will take place May 6-9 in San Diego, California. SCAI 2015 will deliver updates affecting the invasive/interventional cardiovascular field, including late-breaking clinical trials; keynote addresses; and practice-relevant education for diagnosing and treating patients with congenital, coronary, peripheral and structural heart disease.
The SCAI 2015 keynote lecturers will include:
- Peter J. Fitzgerald, M.D., Ph.D., and Christian Assad-Kottner, M.D., who will open the conference with a new session focused on how new and emerging technologies have the potential to transform every aspect of cardiovascular care.
- Robert Harrington, M.D., FSCAI, who will focus on the critical need for more clinical research in interventional cardiology, simplification of larger trials, better early-phase investigations and the use of electronic health records to ease the path to new research. His lecture, “The Future of Clinical Research in Interventional Cardiology: Challenges and Opportunities,” will be held Friday, May 8.
- Joseph Loscalzo, M.D., Ph.D., sharing how advances in big data are helping to unlock some of the complexities of congenital heart disease, uncover the complex pathways that influence disease and providing the promise of new, personalized treatments. He will present his address, “Network Medicine: A Systems Approach to Cardiovascular Disease Diagnosis and Management,” on Thursday, May 7.
SCAI 2015 will also feature –
- SCAI’s Cath Lab Leadership Boot Camp, where cardiac cath lab teams will learn strategies for working collaboratively to deliver high-quality, appropriate care while reducing cost and improving resource utilization.
- MOC Requirements & Controversies, where faculty and attendees will debate the role and maintenance of certification in interventional cardiologists’ lifelong learning.
- How to Treat Critically Ill Patients, a pair of sessions focused on cardiogenic shock, including one offered jointly with the Heart Failure Society of America.
