April 23, 2010 - Vendor-neutral picture archive and communication systems (PACS) are facilitating interoperability across existing modalities and networks.
In the field of vascular surgery, one PACS is making a name for itself. A PACS-neutral healthcare image management solution developed by Mach 7 Technologies, has been awarded a contract by U.S. Vascular in Atlanta, Ga., and has installed Mach 7’s Keystone Suite software in their Albany, N.Y., data center.
In Atlanta, the first of many planned vascular centers has gone live with the new application and will be storing images in the Keystone Archive and providing access to the stored images with the Keystone Clinical Viewer from its electronic medical record (EMR).
The new PACS is designed to enable image data management and provide clinical access to enhance patient care, noted Ernie Gutierrez, director of operations for U.S. Vascular. He added, "The application installed without issue and integrated very easily and seamlessly with our existing modalities and upstream systems."
