TeraRecon Delivers Reporting Compliance, Dose-Awareness for Cardiovascular CT at TCT 2009

August 21, 2009 – TeraRecon Inc. will showcase its Aquarius iNtuition at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) symposium Sept. 21-25, 2009 in San Francisco.

The company said iNtuition provides comprehensive cardiovascular decision support and advanced visualization to interventional cardiologists, radiologists, clinical cardiologists, vascular medicine specialists and other health care professionals with a special interest in the field of interventional and vascular medicine. For cardiovascular professionals involved in imaging, TeraRecon’s advanced cardiovascular visualization tools provide decision support with robust innovative automated technologies that preprocess the image data without user intervention, to deliver valuable decision support, such as centerlines of coronary vessels, segmentation of cardiac chambers, and various other automatic analysis tasks to make interpretation faster and more efficient. If required, the automated processing can be edited by a specialist and saved for physician access or collaborative review.

With increasing emphasis on the limitation of dose in CT imaging, TeraRecon said its analysis algorithms in its software enables use of lower dose strategies. The software is designed to be more tolerant to the noise associated with lower-dose acquisitions. Standardization in cardiac reporting is also key to successful patient outcomes and TeraRecon recently incorporated the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) reporting guidelines* into its structured reporting model for coronary CTA.

TeraRecon said iNtuition also offers best-in-class aortic intervention planning. This endograft planning tool delivers a seamless workflow that culminates in automatic completion of endograft sizing worksheet from a wide variety of manufacturers including Cook, Medtronic, Gore, Bolton and Endologix. Post-operative evaluation can easily be achieved with customized 3D templates that can help identify endoleaks, aneurysm growth and the integrity of implanted devices.

iNtuition delivers these capabilities via a client/server solution. The final results can be distributed by sending a URL link to referring clinicians, which enables them to launch AquariusWEB, an interactive zero-download 3D viewer, within their own Web browser.
