TeraRecon Claims Lead in Direct-to-End-User Market

March 16, 2009 - TeraRecon reported that it has achieved greater than 10,000 licensed concurrent users globally for its Aquarius advanced visualization solution, and claims that the figure gives the company the largest market share in the direct-to-end-user market for advanced visualization.

TeraRecon provides server-based access to advanced visualization for multiple users per server and operates almost exclusively in the direct-to-end-user market. The company’s installed base of servers has grown to more than 10,000 users able to access TeraRecon solutions concurrently. According to the company, this figures surpasses the number of licensed users of other independent competitors for applications offered by the company.

Most competing advanced visualization solutions are offered bundled with a modality purchase, such as CT or MR, as a result, other companies can achieve significant installed-base numbers thanks to ‘workstation’ sales through their modality partners. TeraRecon differs as it provides a unified server-side rendering solution for the entire department or enterprise, as an alternative to the isolated workstation provided with scanners.
