June 5, 2008 – GE Healthcare’s Diagnostic Cardiology business plans to bring electrocardiogram data to more EMRs (Electronic Medical Records) by working with some of the world’s leading EMR vendors to create bridges and enable compatibility.
The solution won’t be tied to any single device but will, instead, be uniquely compatible with each of GE’s contracted vendors. In addition to its compatibility with the GE Healthcare Centricity EMR solution, the GE Healthcare Diagnostic Cardiology business has entered into developments agreements with a variety of other vendors, namely: McKesson Provider Technologies; e-MDs Inc.; eClinical works; GEMMS; Medinotes Corp.; and Medtuity Inc.
These new alliances will focus on bringing seamless workflow and data access solutions to the GE Healthcare Diagnostic Cardiology solution-equipped physician’s office.
“If we can bring our industry leading Marquette 12SL algorithms to more physician’s offices, physicians will be able to provide better patient care and may be able to catch symptoms before they become disease,” said said Dr. Matthias Weber, GE Healthcare’s Vice President of Global Diagnostic Cardiology.
According to Michael Paquin, past president of Microsoft Healthcare User’s Group (MS-HUG) and current president of California-based MDP Consulting Group, this solution “will simplify implementation for all EMR vendors and enable successful solution development faster than customized interface development.”
GE Healthcare is anticipating further agreement announcements in the coming months.
