Siemens Appoints New Head of Diagnostics

May 6, 2008 - Donal Quinn has been appointed new head of the Diagnostics division of the Siemens Healthcare Sector, succeeding Jim Reid-Anderson, to become the new CEO of this sector.

Prior to his new job, Quinn served as executive vice president and chief customer officer of the Diagnostics division since November 2007.
Donal Quinn has enjoyed a long and successful career in the healthcare industry. After serving as controller for Abbott Laboratories, Ireland, in the late 1970's, Quinn worked 16 years for Mallinckrodt Medical, a medical device company based in Hennef, Germany, becoming the global president of its Hospital Business.
In 1998, Quinn joined the clinical laboratory diagnostics specialist Dade Behring as group president, Biology, and later became president, overseeing Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In 2000, he was promoted to president, International, responsible for all commercial operations outside of the United States and Canada and in 2002, he became president, Global Customer Management. He was appointed to the role of chief operating officer of Dade Behring in 2007 with global responsibility for sales, service, marketing, and logistics. Dade Behring was acquired by Siemens in 2007.
Quinn earned a bachelor of science degree in economics from Cork University, Ireland, in 1976 and continued his studies to become a chartered management accountant. He subsequently became a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Management Accountants.
