Jan. 11, 2007 β Fujifilm has announced its acquisition of cardiology PACS vendor ProSolv in Indianapolis. The company will now be known as ProSolv CardioVascular, a Fujifilm Company, and will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary, according to a press statement.
Itβs the first acquisition Fujifilm has made since introducing Synapse in 1999, and the company has proceeded to climb as a leading PACS provider, having added nearly 400 Syanpse sites globally in the past year alone. ProSolv has been developing software to solve complex problems in scientific and medical industries since 1989. The ProSolv CardioVascular Enterprise PACS solution β developed with leading cardiologists β is currently installed at approximately 350 sites.
Fujifilm says the Synapse and ProSolv software applications share similar software technology approaches that have already enabled rapid systems integration and will provide enhanced access to all clinical imaging data for customers using both products. This integrated access to imaging data is expected facilitate clinical outcomes; improved efficiency and cost savings will occur in the IT space, FUJI says, as a result of economies of scale from a uniform approach to storage and disaster recovery solutions.
Investing and expanding into new clinical areas such as cardiology moves Fujifilm on a planned course for broadening the Synapse business to include more clinical specialties and to do so with an integrated software platform. Buying Prosolv, Fujifilm says, will help the company achieve that vision.
