Since the founding of MEGADYNE Medical Products, Inc. in 1985, the company mission has been to provide the medical community with high quality, cost effective, innovative products benefiting surgeons, nurses, and hospitals. MEGADYNE products have proven their effectiveness in the operating room and have been the driving force behind MEGADYNE's emergence as an innovative leader in the medical products industry.
MEGADYNE's strong research and development team is committed to providing the healthcare community with products that will help practitioners meet the rapid changes occuring in the medical field. Surgeons, nurses and hospitals can continue to look to MEGADYNE Medical Products to help solve their medical problems, while controlling critical costs.
MEGADYNE Medical Products was incorporated in April of 1985 to facilitate the research and development of what is now known in the health care industry as the E-Z Clean cautery tip. Dr. G. Marsden Blanch, a noted ENT surgeon in Salt Lake City, Utah, wanted to eliminate the nuisance of eschar buildup on electrocautery blades.
A common problem experienced by all surgeons was the inconvenience of stopping during surgical procedures to clean the eschar build-up off of the stainless steel cautery blade. The problem was not only frustrating to both surgeons and scrub nurses alike, but created costly delays and disrupted the surgical procedure.
Dr. Blanch was convinced there must be a better way of addressing this concern. With the help of several biomedical engineers, Dr. Blanch developed a high-tech coating process which, when applied to stainless steel electrodes, made them eschar-resistant and easy to clean during surgery. Dr. Blanch later received a patent on his product, the E-Z Clean Cautery Blade.
MEGADYNE E-Z Clean Cautery Blades have changed the standard of care in the operating room. Thousands of surgeons are performing millions of surgeries more efficiently and economically, with greater safety, because of the benefits of E-Z Clean Cautery Blades.
MEGADYNE now features a full line of cautery blades of every size, shape and configuration with the patented E-Z Clean coatings that need no scraping during surgery. MEGADYNE E-Z Clean Cautery Blades can be wiped clean of any eschar build-up or debris simply by using a sponge or sterile gauze pad.
In addition to saving time in the O.R., reduced eschar build-up on E-Z Clean Cautery Blades means lower power settings and less thermal necrosis. Lower power settings deliver advantages to both the surgeon and the patient. The cut of an E-Z Clean Electrode is cleaner and not as deep. With less thermal necrosis, the healing process is enhanced.
