January 21, 2010 â The Federal Patent Court in Munich, Germany upheld the validity of Edward Lifesciences' patent for transcatheter valve technology and dismissed invalidity claims by competitor CoreValve.
"We are very pleased that Edwards' Andersen patent has again been upheld, as it was last year in the United Kingdom," said Larry L. Wood, Edwards' corporate vice president, transcatheter valve replacement.
The Jan. 19 decision resulted from a counter-suit filed by CoreValve in response to the patent infringement case filed by Edwards in Germany in May 2007.
