August 24, 2007 - Haemonetics Corp. announced the formation of Haemonetics Software Solutions, Inc. to provide innovative information technology solutions to the blood and plasma collection industries.
Haemonetics Software Solutions is the result of a merger between two Haemonetics subsidiaries: 5D Information Management Inc. and Information Data Management Inc. (IDM). 5D provides information technology to the plasma industry, while IDM's expertise is in developing blood bank applications. The merger will allow Haemonetics to better service customers and to leverage the strengths of both companies as it develops future generations of software.
"This merger allows us to operate towards a common product roadmap and deliver software and service solutions that address all facets of the blood supply chain," said Tony Pare, vice president and general manager for Haemonetics' Global Services. "The combined development strength will allow us to invest, at a faster pace, in industry-first solutions that address increasing pressures in donor availability, regulatory compliance and the overall cost of producing and delivering blood components."
Haemonetics Software Solutions will operate out of the existing 5D and IDM locations in Edmonton, Canada and Rosemont, IL. Haemonetics also announced that as a result of the merger, Tom Britton, formerly president of 5D, has been appointed president of Haemonetics Software Solutions. Tim Coburn, formerly president of IDM, has been appointed vice president of business development for Haemonetics' Global Services business.
