Defibtech Ships 50,000th AED

August 21, 2007 - Defibtech LLC, a designer and manufacturer of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), announced today that the company has shipped more than 50,000 of its DDU-100 Series AEDs marketed under the brand names of Lifeline and ReviveR.

Defibtech AEDs were reportedly selected by the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino, Italy and have been the AEDs of choice for statewide deployment programs in Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Utah and elsewhere.

AEDs revive victims of sudden cardiac arrest caused by ventricular fibrillation. Health experts estimate that sudden cardiac arrest kills more than 400,000 people in the U.S. alone. Studies show that if victims are defibrillated within a minute or two after arrest, more than 70 percent survive. If defibrillation is delayed for more than 10 minutes, only 5 percent live, making immediate access to AEDs vital.
