Canon and QED to Accelerate Development of New, Innovative MRI Technology

Quality Electrodynamics (QED) installs Vantage Galan 3T System at new research center in Ohio

Canon and QED to Accelerate Development of New, Innovative MRI Technology

January 25, 2018 – Canon Medical Systems, in partnership with Quality Electrodynamics (QED), installed a Vantage Galan 3T MR system at the new QED Research Center in Mayfield Village, Ohio. The system, QED’s first research resource, is being utilized to image volunteers in efforts to develop new magnetic resonance (MR) technologies, such as the development and testing of radio frequency coils. The system will also be made available to local university-based researchers and other commercial organizations to test the compatibility and performance of their products in the MR environment.

According to John Patrick, president of the QED Research Center, QED hopes its partnership with Canon Medical Systems will yield innovative MRI technology. Dominic Smith of Canon Medical Systems said they are eager to work to expand the clinical use of MR.

The newly installed system was part of the QED Research Center’s grand opening on Nov. 8, 2017.
