Advanced Visualization System Offers Dictation Directly into Structured Reports

June 4, 2010 – Speech understanding technology that accepts data and translates additional physician dictation in real time into a structured document was introduced yesterday at the Annual Meeting of the Society of Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) in Minneapolis.

TeraRecon featured the integration of its Aquarius iNtuition advanced visualization software with M*Modal’s CDS Speech Understanding technology, which creates a structured document in HL7 CDA format.

Many of the learning tracks at this years’ annual meeting will address advanced visualization requirements as a key consideration because these systems now encompass many departments, specialties and serve a growing need for anywhere-access to images, quantitative tools and sophisticated reporting capabilities. To accomplish these objectives in a seamless and most productive fashion, iNtuition provides rules-based auto-processing of images, sophisticated thin-slice archive and distribution, integrated reporting, context-driven picture archiving and communications system (PACS) integration, combined research and clinical database support and easy electronic medical record (EMR) integration.

iNtuition is capable of performing user-defined clinical workflow and measurement protocols to achieve quantitative interpretation with online Radlex lookup for terminology and export of results using the annotation image markup (AIM) schema, providing interoperability benefits and delivering accurate quantitative results to EMR. In addition, the storing of such quantitative information can become an integral part of patient care, research and teaching. Referring physicians can subsequently review these Workflow Scenes that have been created during the interpretation via the SSL-secure AquariusWeb zero-footprint Web viewer software.
