Step 2/3
Angiography Systems
Interventional cath labs use X-ray angiography imaging systems to guide catheters through blood vessels to perform diagnostics or deliver therapy. These systems are used in the cardiovascular catheterization lab, interventional radiology labs, neuro interventional labs and to guide interventional oncology and gynecology procedures. The C-arm gantry can rotates around the patient with an X-ray source on one end of the "C" and on the other end an image intensifier on older systems or a digital flat panel detector on newer systems. These types of imaging devices are also referred to as fluoroscopy or fluoro systems, vascular imaging systems, interventional imaging systems, cath lab imaging systems and X-ray angiography, or angio, systems, abbreviated as XA.
